The dangers of birding.

When me and my buddies go birding locally, it's scooters as long as it's warm weather, since the 90's we hitch up our scooters in true wagon train fashion and cruise to the valley's hot spots: Here's Jacob, Joe and I en-route to a Sunday roll around the lake.


I made a Killdeer mother protecting her eggs want to gouge my eyes out that day, but check out the protective tail spreading, scary red flashes I never knew a Killdeer had!

Bald Eagle Day

I just received an email from an old high school friend that Mr. G. Merrill Webb will be heading up an exhibition on February 9th called "Bald Eagle Day".

Mr. Webb is the reason I bird, I took every class he offered at Provo High including his Wetlands Ecology summer course. He had a real passion for teaching and a sincere desire to get his students as interested in the environment and birding as he was. You can sign up at the Monte L. Bean Museum for $10.00. Utah will also be unveiling a new bald eagle license plate this year, I encourage everyone to attend that can. contact me if you have any more questions.

Great Horned Owl Pellet Disection

Trudging around in the Ouray National Wildlife Refuge, When I reached a spot I had seen a Great Horned Owl fly away from a few minutes before I stumbled upon this:

Escalante weeping cliff bird

Found way out in the Grand Staircase National Monument near Escalante. He was on a weeping cliff side along the coyote gulch. He was 3 or 4" tall. hopping around looking for a meal.
